Brent Hoffer
Owner / Manager
Hello, my name is Brent Hofferd, and I am the proud owner of the company Ecowater Kelowna.
Like many people I have several skills that you pick up along the way in life, and when my lovely bride and I moved our young family to Kelowna in 1988, I was in the automotive industry, using skills I had been using since getting out of high school.
I left the automotive industry in 1989 and went searching for a new opportunity, I went looking for a job and found a career in the “Water Treatment Industry”
Many of the tools I already had helped me immensely and the ability to trouble shoot problems, not to mention that running pressure lines, and fixing leaks and assorted skills made the transition to plumbing services come quite naturally.
This ability allowed me to excel in the field and I was soon making solo service and plumbing installation calls, in a very large territory that could extend from Grand Forks to Lillooet, this allowed me to then move into a management position in both the sales and service sides of the business, running large trade show crews and training new team members.
In early 1992 our family went through a personal tragedy when my father passed suddenly and because that was our first experience with family tragedy it was very emotional and we made the decision to move back to the “Peace River Region” of B.C. to be closer to family, my old job was waiting for me when I arrived and things went pretty much back to the way they were before we left.
However more and more people were reaching out for me to help them with their water related and plumbing related issues and I had to decide on how to move ahead and in 1993 I stated my own water treatment company using the Ecowater manufactured product line that I had been working with in Kelowna and the dealership became quite successful and we continued to raise our family.
In 1998 after having a medical issue I accepted an offer to purchase my company and work for the closest associated dealer in Alberta, that relationship did not go as well as anticipated I guess taking orders just wasn’t for me.
After a short time in the automotive industry I was contacted by one of people I had worked with in Kelowna, the new owner was looking for a reliable service manager for full time work and wanted to know if I was interested, I met with the new owner and accepted the position, my mother had remarried and really didn’t need us as much anymore so back to Kelowna we went.
So in 2003 right in the middle of the Okanagan Mountain Park Fire I started back into the water treatment industry, only to find out quite quickly that the new owner was an ex-military officer who may have been a good soldier but was very limited in his knowledge of business and was simply running out of his own personal money keeping the business going and admitted to me that the only months he had made money was after I arrived and had cleaned things up.
So in 2004 I purchased his bankrupt business and completely redesigned the business model that was being used into the format that we still use today, when I started this business model our many competitors said we would not survive, but we are still going and they are not, I do take some credit for that success.
We made it though good times and bad and slow but sure kept expanding our business model and ended up having multiple revenue streams including the store sales, our trades and services, as well as an ever-expanding bottled water delivery, however in November of 2012 our store location burnt to the ground along with 3 other businesses.
Our customers contacted us as best they could, and we had a good working relationship with a rival bottled water delivery company we had helped in the past and they did our bottling until our new store opening in May of 2013 and we have been at that location ever since.
With hard-won experience and a very strong work ethic I have been able to overcome many obstacles in my life and my career and feel those situations have made me a better person and business owner.
I can offer a wealth of knowledge in the water treatment and plumbing fields; I am able to provide advice and recommendations for people looking for better water or related products. I also have the ability to read and understand hieroglyphics that can be an analytical water test.
Ecowater Kelowna offers the finest water treatment products, services and along with bottled water and associated products. We are here to offer our services to the people of lake Country to Peachland.
